Becoming Jane

While people are watching the Royal wedding, I am watching this unmarried story of Jane Austen.

Jane Austen's novels are my good friends in puberty. I guess many young ladies also love her stories. Someone said those novels cultivated "Kong" girls (港女).  However, I must defend on behalf of Jane. The ladies in her novels were kind, independent and passionate. They had little fortune but they were trying hard to earn their own livings.  Although there were little opportunities in male dominant era,  they refused to marry men they didn't love for the sake of money. These are all non-Kong girls' acts in my eyes, so I wonder why my friend could view her novels so differently.

Even in my thirties, I still believe that the meaning of marriage is not to conform the society's norm nor to climb up the social ladder, but to bind two affectionate hearts together.
